Visits to Stella this week
I was able to go see Stella twice this week; Tuesday and Thursday. Luckily she was awake and active, at least for 5 minutes or so. Puppies at this age basically sleep, eat, potty, play a little and sleep some more. Kaylene, her breeder, has been so accommodating when it comes to me spending time with her. Tuesday we brought Gordo to meet her and I learned an important lesson. Gordo came into the house where three female dogs let him have it! We thought we had the door shut but they got into the room he was in. The three females were Stella's mom, grandmother and great grandmother so they were just doing their job protecting their babies from an intruder. From that point on he was on edge and just wanted out of there. We should have held off the meeting because he wasn't up for more new friends. Gordo has never been very fond of other dogs as it is, at least until he gets to know them. So when sweet Stella wanted to play with him he gave her a fright with a snap and a growl. So...make a note....make sure the atmosphere is relaxed and calm when introducing dogs to each other. When a new pack member is introduced it should be done on neutral ground so territorial issues don't come into play. Next time we will make sure it's just the two of them. Friday I saw her briefly to take her six week pictures. I got some good ones and will post them on the blog. Thank you Kaylene and Chris for letting me interrupt your breakfast today!!!
